About
ZQ — Founder of Flavfar
At 18, I immigrated to the U.S. alone.
My English was poor, I had no connections, no resources.
I started out wiping tables and washing dishes as a busboy — that was my first crash course in American reality.
But I didn’t complain. I hustled.
While working, I studied and earned my Cisco certifications: CCNA, CCNP, and passed the CCIE written exam. I became a network engineer and worked at tech companies in the U.S., earning a respectable income.
But deep down, I knew I wasn’t built just to be an employee. I wanted to build something of my own — a brand that could move markets.
In 2013, I brought CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice into the U.S.
I didn’t test the waters with one location — I boldly opened two stores at the same time, despite having zero prior experience.
It was brutal, risky, and exhausting — but I saw the market clearly, and I was right.
At the peak, Panda Express approached with a buyout offer.
The Taiwanese headquarters also offered to buy back my business for USD $3 million.
I turned both down, thinking there was still more to grow.
Then came COVID-19. Everything changed.
I missed the best timing to exit. I learned the hard way: business isn’t just about selling — it’s about timing, strategy, and resilience.
But right as the pandemic hit, I decided to start again.
I founded Flavfar, launched an Instant Boba DIY Kit, and single-handedly handled sourcing, importing, branding, and listing on Amazon.
That product hit No. 1 in its category on Amazon U.S.
Then came the copycats — even my original supplier started selling directly.
So I pivoted again.
Now, I’m not just making boba. I’m creating:
🍾 Canned sparkling juice with popping boba — a party drink
Shelf-stable, export-ready, made for the EDM culture and global flavor fusion
Asian flavors × Western beats
It’s not just a beverage — it’s a cultural experience
I’m not young, and I don’t pretend to be.
But some things are worth betting on, and worth being remembered for.
